What is Wretify?
Wretify is a clean, minimalist writing app for nonfiction writers, built for focus — with an AI that has read everything you've written and refuses to write it for you.
What Wretify is not
The name comes from “rectify.” Wretify does not generate your prose, rewrite your text, or disguise AI writing as human.

What Wretify does
- A page for your book, chapter by chapter. Focus Mode (Alt+F) fades every paragraph except the one you are in.
- An AI partner that has read your writing. Wretify builds a search index of your books, articles, journal and notes on your own device, and the AI brings the relevant passages of your own writing into its answers. It asks questions and finds the blind spot in an argument.
- Real footnotes and citations. Add a footnote from a fact check, or drag a cited research finding onto the page. Each chapter builds its own References list, and book exports add a full bibliography. References and citations →
- A reading room joined to your writing. Read a book or article in Wretify, highlight what matters, and send it to the chapter it belongs in, as an idea, resource, quote or reference. Reading and writing →
- Every note has a home. A quick note is filed to a book or article, a chapter, and a kind (idea, resource, quote or reference), or kept as a journal entry.
- Three at a time. At most three books and three articles are active at once; the rest wait on your Ideas & Drafts shelf or move to Finished. Finishing a book →
- Your voice, word for word. On desktop, Alt+M types your speech at the cursor, with no AI rewriting. Alt+L reads your chapter back to you.
- The keyboard, not the mouse. Every main room has its own Alt-key shortcut, Escape takes you back out, and Alt+K finds everything else by name.
What Wretify does not do
- It does not write your chapters. There is no “write it for me” button, and nothing reaches the page unless you press Replace or Insert, or drag it there. Why →
- It does not invent sources.
- It does not keep your writing. Your files are in your Google Drive, readable in any text editor, even if Wretify disappears.
- It does not resell AI. You pay the AI company directly at their prices; Wretify adds no markup.
- It does not disguise AI writing as human.
